My Intro

As you can probably tell this will be my first ever attempt at blogging (YAY!). So sorry in advance for rambling!

In my blog I am going to be doing reviews and comparisons on various reusable menstrual pads and cups or RUMPs for short. Let me start with me.

I am a 24 year old stay at home wife with too much time on my hands. I was a girl who didn't like pads,so I would always wear tampons for my cycle but I didn't like how they dried me out and hurt to use them. So I bought Instead softcups which I had problems with them actually fitting inside me and they would always leak. I like to think of it as my body telling me to find something healthier/easier to use. So my adventure begins, I found out about RUMPs through a bit of late night goofing around on youtube. At the time of this blog I just finished my third cycle using RUMPs.

I will tell you a few good things I noticed since I switched from disposables and a few downsides to it as well. Firstly the good things, my cycle has gone from 21-58 day irregularity to a steady 31 day cycle. Another thing I noticed was that I went from such a HEAVY flow for 6-8 days to a light flow/spotting for 3-4 days. There is an array of fabrics, colors, designs, lengths, absorbancies, shapes, etc. that you could choose from and play around with.

Before I start on the downsides to RUMPs I am going to admit that I have an obsessive personality and also I tend to have some minor hoarding tendencies (both are self diagnosis). I have noticed that since my switch I have needed to have daily protection due to excessive discharge. My thoughts on this are that the tampons took out so much moisture that I never noticed how bad it was.

Now cost is a debatable factor in this subject, most will say you will save money over time, which is true since I no longer throw out a jumbo box worth of disposables each month. On the other hand I see that as a misleading statement just knowing that there are a bunch of us “paddicts” who want to try multiple brands of pads and cups but can’t afford all at once so we get little by little till the point we have a gazillion pads and cups.
