Sewn By Tash

This is a review for Sewn By Tash which is a Canadian seller you can buy on Facebook and Etsy
I bought this pad in a destash, as it needed doctored up and I felt that I could fix it easily I jumped on the chance to buy it. It is a 12 inch light flow pad it has a knit topper, not sure what kind of core and fleece back.

I bought this because it is my favorite color and it has clouds on it. This has become my go to overnight pad it has a straight body with rounded ends to it so it will only ever be my overnight pad as it does try to scrunch in the but area. The knit that is used for the topper is super soft but it does hold stains a bit more than woven.

Pink lemonade shop

Pink lemonade shop

I have a 7 ½ inch pantyliner made with raw silk and fleece backed and quite honestly I was scared to use it at first. I also have a 12 inch heavy/overnight cotton topped fleece backed which was out of my comfort zone to begin with.

The pantyliner I have had for quite some time now and it has worked better than expected and worked more along the lines of a light pad and has yet to stain. I am very impressed with this little liner and I do not know why I was ever worried about it.

The heavy pad like i said was outside of my comfortable size range but I bought this as a “just in case”  which I have used several times already. The only negatives I can say about this pad is that the tag is not in the best spot and makes me feel like I have ants in my pants, the second is that the wings are extraordinarily small which makes the pad shift I even had tight supportive panties on. It is a great pad for overnight or when I’m having a lazy day.

Creations by five

This is a review for 2 styles of pads both from the same seller Creations by five.

I have 8 inch by 2 ½ inch pad in the squared shape and I believe it is a light pad. This pad is a cotton topped and flannel backed. The second is an 8 ½ inch by 2 ½ inch rounded shape in a heavy pad. The heavy pad is Minky topped fleece backed. I am unsure of what she uses as a core but I will say that they hold up nicely for my needs.

The heavy is a bit on the thicker side which I love on heavier days but the top stitching creates a thick rim as it is farther from the edge as most. The light day pad is not my favorite shape or width but it serves its purpose.

I would most like buy more items from creations by five.

Luv ur body menstrual cup

I recently acquired a Luv ur body menstrual cup size medium. The size can be located on the inside of the rim. My first impression is WOWZA this thing is by far the highest capacity cup I have seen.

So what makes a Luv ur body cup so different is the fact it is designed to have your cervix sit inside the cup to accommodate medium/low cervix height without compromise to capacity. The company achieved this by implementing a swell a little bit below the rim. They put raised designs all over the cup to keep it in place when you squat or bear down like when you pass a bowel movement.

I tried doing the punch down fold and I found it nearly impossible for it to open up so then I used the C-fold for insertion and didn't have any problem inserting. The luv ur body cup irritated my insides due to the designs on the outside of the cup and the it was too long for my anatomy.

What I have learned so far about cloth pads

I found out some things while using cloth pads. I prefer between 7-10 inches long and between 1 ¾ - 2 ¼ inches wide. I prefer pads with a floppy pliable core so that it conforms to my body better. Personally I like flared pads with a wider flare in the back but longer in the front (as I am a front bleeder and hate butt wedgies).

For topper material I like micro-fleece, minky, velvet, cotton and knit so far. Most people go on and on about how they LOVE organic bamboo velour (OBV) for me it is not one of my favorite toppers also not a fan of Sherpa. The core materials I like zorb and flannel but really those are all I have tried out.

Water proof/resistant in not necessary for me but there are several to choose from. Nylon is quite a noisy fabric and would rather have it in a wet bag. PUL or Polyurethane laminate is nice thin and breathable not near as loud as nylon but you would be able to tell if your pad has it or not also you could leave the pul as the backing or cover with any other fabric. Fleece is another choice but you have to be careful as not all fleece are water resistant you will have to test for repellance or saturation AFTER it is washed.

This is a photo of my stash. cups, pads, inter labial pads, cup spot/wipes and wet bags. minus the pads that are in the mail.

Under wraps pad pattern

I was lucky enough to be chosen to “test” the Sweet Caroline Under wraps (could not find a link to the pattern now) pad pattern in the 10 inch and 11 inch sizes. Let me just say that the initial printing process was excruciating!!!! The owner had to re-size the PDF file and have us try numerous times before anyone could successfully print the full pattern (around 3 or 4 hours) but it was a pretty easy to follow design with sufficient instructions with pictures!

I will say now that the pattern had quite a long wingspan which made the pad fit rather loosely and shift around. I tweaked the pattern after the first pad I made by narrowing the “gusset” and shortening the wings as well as making the wings squared off instead of rounded. I have revised the pattern and added a couple more sizes to this for my own use.

I do love how the pads made with this pattern appear difficult but they are truly simple to construct. These could be made with which ever materials you wish velvet, minky, flannel, cotton; etc. The instructions that accompany the pattern is written well and can easily be understood.

That being said I would willingly purchase this pattern if I needed it.

The above is the original pad I made using this tutorial.

This is the pad from after I revised pattern.

unknown maker LOT

For this review I bought a lot of homemade pads so i could try different fabrics/shapes/sizes so most  ranged in sizes, some had tab, pointy and wrap around styles for the wings. The topper fabrics were micro-fleece, cotton and flannel. I have no clue as to what she used as her core layers or the backs aside from the fact that it was the softest water resistant fleece I personally have ever touched. I do know there was not PUL in any of the pads.

The sizes are 8 inch by 2 inch; 9 inch by 2 inch; 9 by 2 ½; 9 ½ by 2 ½; 10 by 2 ½ / 2 ¼; 11 by 2 ¼ / 2 ½. I no longer have these pads as I passed them onto other people to try them out. I will say that doing this has helped tremendously in figuring out exactly what i did and didn't like about each pad.

Some things I found out while using cloth pads are that I prefer between 7-10 inches long and between 1 ¾ - 2 ¼ inches wide. I also learned that flannel is not for me BUT I do like micro-fleece, minky, velvet and cotton for toppers. I am not overly worried about people being able to see through certain clothing nor am I worried about leaking.

Anytime brand menstrual cup

This is my review of the Anytime menstrual cup. If you have looked into very many cups you will notice it does look identical to the Sckoon cup but the anytime cup only cost $5 USD.

This did come from overseas so not only did shipping take a while but on the customs sheet they had filled out the description stating “menstrual cup” so if you want to be discreet than this is not for you although you might be able to request that they put “cup” on the customs declaration I am not sure though.

This brand uses a kind of shiny silicone and comes in 2 sizes and a variety of colors. I do not find the smaller sized cups work for me so I got the large. The grip designs are very flimsy and flip backwards a lot but I do not feel this impedes the removal of this cup much. The stem is cylindrical and tapers off also the stem is easy to trim.

My only issue is that this cup is not finished well at all. The suction release holes were not properly punched as well as the seam around the top and down the sides of the cup was ragged.

All in all I would make this purchase again if I need to.

The lovely Mrs. Nix

I won this in a giveaway off of Facebook / YouTube SUPER sweet lady with great customer service.

This pad is 10 inches long by 2 ½ inches wide. it is cotton topped with a flannel core, hidden PUL and backed in fleece.
She warned us winners of her using of size 16 snaps instead of the more commonly used size 20s  and mine lasted about 12 uses on the original snaps and luckily I had snaps along with a snap press so that did not bother me and I LOVE this pad!!!! If you ever get the chance to obtain one of her pads (she does not sell anything she makes) jump on it! As for me I use it as an overnight pad and it holds up beautifully.

It has just the right amount of flare to it and is so soft. The wings have very little excess if any so it reduces bulk. When paired with the right pair of underwear this pad isn't moving anywhere.

I would most definitely acquire another of her pads if the opportunity presented itself!

one in a mel'lion

I won this pad and pad wrapper in a giveaway several months ago from one in a mel’lion but the lady who made this pad no longer makes them and has transitioned into homemade soaps.

The dimensions are 10 ½ inches long by 3 inches wide it is a heavy cotton topped and fleece backed unsure of the core. I found it was a bit too wide to fit comfortably. It had bunched up and caused an accident luckily I was at home when it happened! It is a really soft comfy pad and I use it for overnight and no accidents since!

As for the pad wrapper I honestly do not go anywhere that warrants me to need one but it is adorable so I held onto it just incase!

mother moon pads

This is my review of Mothermoon pads.
I have 2 heavy pads in the older style and 2 panty liners in the newer style.

The heavy’s are 11 inches by 2 ½ wide both are cotton topped and fleece backed not 100% sure of the cores as they were purchased from a destash. These were the first pads I owned that had the edges over locked (serged) which made them less noticeable through my pants. I will say that these worked beautifully as far as coverage and how much they could hold without leaking.

The panty liners are 9 ½ by 2 ½  and 8 by 2 ½ both were minky topped and fleece backed. I primarily use a menstrual cup and these are the perfect backup liners for me. They are slim but sturdy enough not to crawl into my crack (sorry for the visual!) I will say that I use the 9 ½ for overnight cup backup and the 8 inch for anything/everything like everyday wear or cup backup to tail end of my monthly.

The point is I really like the fit of this brand and really appreciate that when ordered directly from her store you got a mesh laundry bag with your order.

Interlabial pads

Okay so a lot of people in the groups I'm in ask quite frequently about interlabial pads which is what prompted this post. They are also a good scrap project.

An interlabial pad is normally just 2 layers of absorbent materials could be cotton, velor, flannel, etc; and is placed between the folds of your vaginal opening. There are multiple reasons for using these and here are a few which include directing flow to the center of a pad, as a menstrual cup back up, or even just using in place of a pantyliner.

I generally use 2 layers of flannel and notch the edges to help prevent fraying and place a stitch going long ways down the center although I have turned and topstitched but found them to be a little more uncomfortable than my other style.

I first tried to turn and topstitch but found them too bulky and they kind of rubbed me raw. I then tried the 2 layer center line only style and they are super comfortable they are generally 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide by 2 1/2 to 3 inches long and i have found that works for me.

Maxille Love

This is going to be my review of Maxille love pads. Sadly they have shut down shop.

I have a size 4 (I believe) which is a overnight/postpartum pad. Cotton top and a fleece back not sure what the core is (feels like zorb). The pad is 12 inches long by 3 inches wide.

This is a very comfortable pad except the corners kept curling in. The tag could have been in a better place so it didn't scratch the one wearing the pad.

Cooter cozies

This is going to be my review of Cooter cozies (This has to be one of the BEST names for a shop) she sells on facebook and is SUPER sweet!

My first 2 pads were done in a trade and kind of an impulse buy (had to have the hot hunky guys!) and I am very glad I did it! They are the perfect width and length as well as perfect placement. I love the shape as they do not bunch up or slip.

The pads both measure 7 ½ inches by 1 ⅞ inch wide they are both cotton topped I believe the cores are zorb and they both have a hidden layer of PUL one has cotton backing the other has flannel backing.

The 3rd pad I ordered from her is one I have wanted for a very VERY long time using the skittle farts fabric (If you knew me in person you would understand). I have seen all kinds of pads with the print but did not want to spend the money on unknown pad shape/design (again) I wanted a reliable brand. The only thing I did to my skittle farts is topstitched around it because I just personally like the look of top stitching. It is 7 1/2 inches by 1 7/8 inch wide.

Empire Lush

The pad I will be reviewing today is by Empire lush. She is a canadian seller and has the oh-so-famous “him” pad. Due to the shape of this particular pad I am hesitant of posting a photograph of it.

The pad is 11 inches long by 2 ½ inches wide has adorable star snaps on outer snap and inner snap has the absorbancy marked. I freaking LOVE the shape it fits very well and I honestly forgot I was wearing it! I is incredibly thin and holds a lot I am very impressed with this pad! I had to wait and stalk her facebook to win the opportunity to buy it and it is in a very hilarious fabric pattern!

Cloth addict momma

This is my review on my only cloth addict momma pad. Let me start by saying that I had a pleasant transaction with her.

The pad itself is 10 ½  inches long by 3 inches wide has a cotton top, unknown core and fleece backing. Has a cute snap that has a skull engraved on it old 35mm film rolls as the cotton topper.

After unpacking this pad I noticed that there was some kind of funky stitching going on, wonky uneven double stitching looks bad but still useable, then after washing it once one of the snaps decided it didn’t want to stay on luckily I had more snaps and a press. I do not have a very heavy flow and somehow I still managed to leak through (haven't had this happen before).

Vintage Country Corner

This is my vintage country corner cloth pad review.

I bought this off of an online auction site because like most of my pad purchases I fell in love with the print.

Cotton topped, 3 layers of zorb for the core and fleece back so it is crazy fluffy. Measures 10 inches long by 3 inches wide. I do know that this pad is best for overnight/postpartum useage when I tried it and it was quite a bit too wide for my liking but worked well. I will be saving this one for when I (finally) get pregnant. I like the shape and the size, the stitching is spot on and she uses good quality fabrics.

Me Luna XL Sport

This is my review on the Me Luna XL Sport.

This cup has a 30 ml capacity to the holes and a 42 ml capacity to the rim, a 47 mm diameter rim and a 56 mm body length. I chose the ring style on this cup.

I decided that I may have rushed my decision to get rid of my first Me Luna cup so I decided to try the sport resistance this time instead. I have had this one for a month now and I fear that I bought the wrong sized cup as it was much too hard to insert and painful without lubricant!

I was able to use this cup once at the beginning of my cycle and I did not have any leaks. I still do not like the material of it but I do not have to feel it all of the time as it would be inside me when used.

Period attire

This is my review on Period Attire Pads on etsy. This is such a remarkable young lady who donates 10% of her net profits go to help girls in africa have access to menstrual products so that they won't miss out on their education.

So on to my order I had purchased an 8 inch heavy pad, a surprise 9 inch scrap pantyliner and a 6 inch thong liner. The heavy pad has to be one of my favorites it is so cute with flowers and so comfortable and it really holds a lot. the scrap panty liner is so adorable and is made of 3 types of fabric flannel, minky and cotton all of which have foxes! The thong liner is minky with owls and I honestly forgot I was wearing it!

I usually have a hard time finding narrow pads so they do not bunch up and these were PERFECT! I do look forward to buying more from her as they are really good quality and also for her donations to such a good cause. Terra added a note with my order on the back of her business card.

Me Luna shorty large classic

These are my opinions on the Me Luna large classic shorty.

It has a 21 ml capacity to the rim, 44 mm rim diameter and a 41 mm body length. There are only 2 suction release holes. I chose the model with the tab style stem.

I have been looking forward to trying this brand since I first learned of menstrual cups! Let me start with the material used for the Me Lunas it is TPE (Thermoplastic elastomer) and I will tell you now I strongly dislike it. The pouch it came with was a nice one but it was much bigger than the cup itself.

I ordered the large shorty classic and the resistance was similar to that of a large fleurcup which was way too soft for my liking. I could not get this cup to open inside me. The size would have been perfect for the end of my cycle when my cervix drops quite a bit. Within 3 days of receiving the meluna I got rid of it.

Lunette Size 2

This is my honest review of my Lunette cup.

I purchased my Lunette to try it after hearing a few people say it was on the firmer side. Within a day of using it I was so in love! It can hold 30 ml to the rim, 46 mm rim diameter, 52 mm cup length and a 72 mm length with the stem intact. It has a flat tab style stem which I have to cut off due to having a lower cervix. They come with the cutest lined satin pouches!

I will tell you right now that this very well could be my “goldilocks” cup! I use this every cycle even when I should be trying out my various cloth pads. It took no time at all to insert this in the correct position. I have had my lunette for 4 months now and I still have not had a single leak! I will also tell you that I currently have two of these cups one for at home and one for my purse so that I will not be caught off guard without it!

Lily cup original size B

My first impressions on the original lily cup size B…

The dimensions on the lily cup are 43.5 mm in diameter 78 mm in length and can hold 28 ml to the rim. You can purchase the lily cup at the Intimina website.

The lily cup has a unique design including a no spill rim and soft spines to help pop open. This cup is so soft and silky to the touch. It has no suction release holes and let me tell you that this cup has AMAZING suction! It also features a slanted rim which helps getting it into the right position with longest part behind your cervix.

Personally I love this cup but I would need to have a shorter cup length due to having a lower cervix but when I sleep I find this is not a big issue since I do not move around a lot. You could cut a little bit of the stem off but seeing as the only grip rings are on the stem it may make it harder to remove.

Funpadzbystevens

This review is going to be on a set of pads from funpadzbystevens off Etsy.

I got 1 light/moderate 9.5 inch, 2 light/moderate 9.75 inch, 1 moderate/heavy 9.75 inch, 1 overnight 12.5 inch. All are flannel topped with a layer of zorb for the cores. The light pads have anti-pill fleece backing whereas the heavy and overnight has polartec windpro fleece.

I like the lengths and shape of the pads themselves but I find the overprotective wings too bulky. They are super duper absorbent and really soft. A downside is the flannel has already pilled very bad after the 3rd wash.

From the time I ordered them to the time I received them took just 3 days. I think these pads hold a lot and they are super soft. Overall my opinion on these pads are that I feel like these are best suited to become my overnight pads or when I'm lazy lounge around the house.
